Case Study: Rural Cluster Dormer, Lusk
Brief: This project fell under Fingal County Council’s Rural Cluster zoning which is designed to make it easier to provide housing in a rural area of Fingal for people who have lived in a rurally zoned part of Fingal for a minimum of 10 years.
We have been successful in 3 separate rural clusters in Fingal, providing over 10 houses. We’ve found that people who have previously been refused planning permission in a rural area stand a better chance in a rural cluster zoned site.
Process:
Our client wanted a highly efficient house with low running costs. We used traditional cavity block walls with pumped bead insulation, spray foam insulation in the roof space, an air source heat pump with underfloor heating & demand control ventilation. This resulted in a A2 energy rating.
